4:00 PM - 5:00 PM Understanding President Trump’s Executive Order on Immigration and Travel Ban
On Friday, January 27, President Trump signed an executive order suspending entry into the U.S. for people from seven Muslim-majority countries. The days following the order were met with mass protests in airports around the country and a mobilization of lawyers and legal experts coming to the aid of those impacted. Meanwhile, the Trump administration has responded with resilient abstinence, refusing to reconsider the breadth of the order or tame the chaos that has resulted for individuals, airports, and government agencies in its wake. Beyond the policy implications of this executive action, there are legal questions that must be asked and answered: Is this order a violation of accepted immigration laws and regulations? Does this represent a constitutional problem? And, most importantly: what can we do now?

Fordham's Institute of Law, Religion, and Lawyer's Work invites you to join us as we study this moment in our history with Professor Abner Greene, Professor Jennifer Gordon, and Professor Thomas Lee, who will explore the constitutionality and legality of Trump's recent actions around immigration.

6:00 PM - 7:00 PM Feerick Center: LEEAP - Education Component - INFORMATION Session-

Legal, Economic, and Educational Advancement Project (LEEAP)

Fordham Law School’s Feerick Center for Social Justice invites attorneys and other professionals to an Information Session for the Education Component of the Legal, Economic, and Educational Advancement Project (LEEAP). The event will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 from 6:00pm to 7:00pm. The Education Component of LEEAP works to recruit and train professionals, who then assist students and families with low incomes as they navigate the New York City public high school application process.

The Information Session will introduce and provide valuable information about the Education Component of LEEAP, which is currently in its fifth year. LEEAP offers long-term and short-term volunteer opportunities at several community-based organizations and schools in Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and the Bronx, with developing sites in Staten Island.  This session will provide information regarding the various volunteer positions available and the opportunity to connect with representatives from specific LEEAP host organizations.

We are happy to hold one-on-one Information Sessions for those of you who cannot attend but would still like to get involved. Volunteers are also encouraged to participate in the  Training Session on Wednesday, February 22, 2017, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
