(We Want What ’s Ours )
A Conversation about Land Dispossession in South Africa
The event will begin with the screening of Sifuna Okwethu (We Want What’s Ours), an evocative 20 minute short documentary depicting one South African family’s struggle to regain their family land stolen during apartheid. The film’s director, Visiting Professor Bernadette Atuahene, will be joined by Professor Tracy Higgins and other panelists for the post-screening conversation about land dispossession in South Africa and the intractable legacies of apartheid. Reception to follow.
