Act Your Age: Keeping Kids Out of Adult Criminal Court

New York is one of two states in the country that automatically charges 16 & 17 year old offenders as adults.  The criminalization of young people before the age of 18 can effect the course of their entire lives. Correctional Association of New York is a non-profit organization that advocates for change in the criminal justice system for juvenile offenders as part of their Raise the Age Campaign.  As Campaign Director, Mr. Angelo Pinto fights for justice for New York's youth in the community and in the legislature.  Join us for a presentation by Mr. Pinto on the Raise the Age Campaign, and the reflections of a young person who was affected by the classification, and how it has affected his life.

Wednesday 11/12, Room 3-09, 4:30-5:30

Sponsored by Prisoners' Rights Advocates.  Pizza and other refreshments will be served!
